Meet Sarah M. Wasson: A Storyteller Weaving Fantastical Worlds

Sarah M. Wasson is a vibrant voice in Young Adult Fantasy, with dashes of sci-fi and romance woven into her captivating tales. Based in the shimmering city of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sarah lives with her husband and son, balancing her writing with a colorful array of passions—pet grooming, amateur golf, horse whispering, falconry, and a deep love for sci-fi. Her journey as an author is as dynamic as the worlds she creates, and we’re thrilled to share her story through this author spotlight.

A Passion for Storytelling

Sarah’s love for storytelling shines through in her bio: “Sarah M. Wasson has a passion for storytelling and creating captivating worlds.” Her debut book hit the self-publishing world in 2011, marking the start of a creative journey that blends self-publishing with traditional publishing. With a trusted team by her side, including alpha readers, beta readers, critique partners, editors, proofreaders, formatters, and cover design artists, Sarah ensures her stories are polished and ready to enchant readers.

Crafting Stories as a Pantser

Describing herself as a Pantser—writing by the seat of her pants with minimal plotting—Sarah’s creative process is spontaneous and free-flowing. Her stories come to life in diverse settings, from the couch in front of the TV to the bleachers at her son’s baseball games, often typed out on her phone. “Anywhere the words come to me,” she says, showcasing her ability to capture inspiration on the go. Sarah’s Prophecy Foretold Novel Series stands out as her proudest achievement. This series, rich with fantasy and intrigue, reflects her knack for building immersive worlds. Interestingly, her Chronicles of Atlantis series predicted theories that later appeared on the History Channel’s Ancient Aliens—a surprising and thrilling moment in her writing journey. “The theories I came up with... appeared on History Channel’s Ancient Aliens before those episodes aired,” she shares.

Evolving as a Writer

Since her first book in 2011, Sarah’s writing has “most definitely” evolved. Her process varies, shaped by her life as a hobbyist writer rather than a full-time author. Her first book, started in 2005, took a winding path: submitted to a publisher in 2009, self-published in 2011, pulled from publication, and then revitalized with fresh edits and rewrites in 2024. In contrast, the second book in the Prophecy Foretold series was a swift endeavor, moving from first word to print in just eight months. Sarah’s personal experiences subtly influence her work, though not consciously. “I would be lying if I said no, but it is not a conscious thing,” she admits. While her initial ideas are deeply personal, she keeps her audience in mind as the story develops, ensuring her books resonate with readers.

Handling Feedback and Multitasking Projects

Feedback, whether glowing or critical, is filtered through her husband, allowing Sarah to stay focused on her craft. “I try not to read it, good or bad—my husband looks for me,” she explains. This approach keeps her grounded as she juggles multiple projects, often working on two or three books at once. After hitting publish, Sarah dives into new ideas rather than lingering on the last book, keeping her creative momentum alive.

What’s Next for Sarah?

Fans of the Prophecy Foretold series have exciting news: the third installment, Infinite Medallion, is coming soon! Sarah is also venturing into new territory, dabbling in a thriller screenplay—an exciting departure from her usual genres. When asked about genres she’d like to explore, she’s open to experimentation, showcasing her versatility as a writer.
