The Hard Truths of Christianity: Biblical Purity in a Spiritually Promiscuous World
By William C. Oakes
The fact is that some truths of the Christian faith are difficult—hard. Not because they are complex or complicated. For they are not. But many Christians are unaware of these truths, avoid or ignore them because they are uncomfortable, or reject them outright.
Why is this so? Because we all live in societies and legal systems, with cultural norms, and ever-changing moral standards alien to what the Christian Bible teaches as facts established by a Creator God.
The purpose of this book is NOT to spell out the rules and regulations of Christianity. Christianity adheres to specific, unalterable, truths. But the fullest expression of Christianity is an understanding of God and His truths, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, and coupled with an all-consuming love for God.
I pray that gaining an understanding of these fundamental truths about God, His ways, and His love for his creation… will help us grow closer to Him. That we will come to rely upon His mercy and grace in a new, deeper way. That we will come to trust God’s Word, to believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and to rest in the saving power of the Holy Spirit.
